If polish is a problem, USBC could just test after removing it. Or Storm could just propose that to them. They don’t have to change anything in their finishing process….
From what I’ve seen others say (so grain of salt), the balls tested to get on the market are sent without polish on them initially already.
Also, the Storm video didn’t prove that the durometer doesn’t work. Only that there is more variance than we would like. But USBC knows that , that’s why they test 10 times around the ball. So maybe the set limits would have to change and be more loose, in order to accommodate such variance. Either that, or they have to create more controlled conditions with which to test balls.
they fundamentally proved the durometer is flawed. durometer’s can have a variance of plus or minus 1 and can still be considered calibrated. so if storm has a calibrated durometer that’s testing high and USBC has a durometer testing low there’s a possibility of there being 2 whole units of variance.
there are ways they could mitigate this like running the tests across 4-5 durometers for the ten spot checks. but if the tools are flawed while in spec then maybe the requirements need to be reconsidered. eg requiring a more specific durometer accuracy than what durometers can deliver. dont specify 73, specify 72-74 minimum since that matches the tools own innaccuracy

Belmo actually CARES about the sport of bowling. The USBC does NOT care about the sport of bowling. Belmo wants to see the sport grow, USBC doesn’t care to grow the sport.
Belmo is putting this out there because I believe he truly cares about transparency.
It’s not that durometers don’t work for bowling ball but rather that there are variances that need to be accounted for because its not an exact science.
USBC is operating exactly like a dictator. Do what I tell you to do or face punishment.
It truly does seem like its become personal. People are going to continue to question the USBC until they give us ALL the facts and ALL the data.
If you do the urethane test, please add some of the modern balls they call “urethane” (but they’re not), just to show people the facts.
When I saw the specs for the new sneak attack I was a bit disappointed with the higher diff than the counter attacks because I loved that company made a ball not designed to be a hook monster while also not being an “entry level ball” for once. The counter attack solid was my go to as a high rev player to be able to play straight with having a consistent ball reaction. I’m worried this new one will be too much ball to do the same with
